Cycling along the Marina!

Cycling has been one of my favorite past time as a child. School vacations were the best of times with the 'majestic' hero cycle, I loaned from my chithi.

The scorching sun, was a never mind..., the newly Tarred road, never mind..., free fall and the bruises, never mind.... Those were such wonderful times on the pedal. I still fondly remember those days cycling with the new friends around the quarters road, calling each other by the brand of the cycle we owned. :-P... (I called myself a Hero'ine though ;-)).

My tryst with the cycle happened loooong back in the early school days. Being the most pampered and the delicate darling, I remember the first few days on the pedal, held by my dad and uncle.
Having the of a non fallen down cyclist, I was one of the very few who got the balance without having the great falls :-) (May be I was too afraid of losing balance and escaped the great falls :-P)

Not only in the studious school days accompanying me up and down to all the tuitions, cycle stuck as the only 'vaaganam' for the REC/NIT T hostellers.
Cycling to and fro, From Opal to Ad block, Octa to snacky, Barn to SJB, my second hand cycle was the only the best mobile friend.

Time rolling on, I had a chance again on the pedal as Our gang chose an exploration of the Helsinki city on the cycle after the onset of spring.
The lush green spring in the land of 1000 lakes stays afresh in my memory as the beautiful portrait!!!
Not just that, the day long of sight seeing with the cycle on the hilly town drained the whole gang and that was the second last time, I held on the cycle.
Four years down, Hercules rodeo Chennai Cycling 2013 was again inviting chance to pedal.
Got a chance to catch the ad of the event on a radio station.
:-) and as always plans for participation started with my friends.
Sadly ended up cycling alone, with a huge rush of enthusiastic cyclists....
The early morning ride beside the beach was a super starter for another chapter of including cycle as a green mode of healthy and pollution free transport.

Nevertheless, had again made acquaintances on the 8km ride.

Apart from the last minute preponing, Organisers had better planned the event inspite of the last minute restriction by Chennai police.

Looking forward for such initiatives coming around the corner....

And hoping for the addition of cycle to my present 'costly' mode of transport options making me fitter in body and mind for a greener cause of me and my earth!!!
